About me
Olga Derevyanko is a Ukrainian visual artist based in Ireland, working mainly with photography to explore the relationship between the human body and the natural environment. Her practice combines aerial drone photography with digital portraiture — allowing me to capture both intimate closeness and the vast surrounding landscape, revealing how human presence is shaped by, and repositioned within, nature. At the heart of this work is a deeper question: how we find our place in the world, and what it means to feel truly connected to the land beneath our feet.
She studied at the Mykolaiv School of Photography (Ukraine), the curatorial programme Form. (France).
Since relocating to Ireland in 2022, her practice has shifted towards long-term, landscape-based work, where nature functions as a space of observation, grounding, and social inquiry. Her ongoing project ‘Healing Land’ examines how Ukrainian women navigate displacement, trauma, and recovery through interaction with natural environments. I’m currently developing this work in book and exhibition formats.
Her work has been presented in international group exhibitions, including:
- Photo London 2026, Discovery Section, Form. Gallery, London, UK (May 2026)
- Women in Photography, Glasgow Gallery of Photography, Glasgow, UK (March 2026)
- OXO2025, Outset Gallery, Galway, Ireland (November 2025 – January 2026)
- New Voices, Form. Gallery, Paris, France (November 2025)
- Healing Land — multimedia presentation, Culture Night, Tralee, Ireland (September 2025)
She was also shortlisted for Belfast Photo Festival 2026.
She lives and work in Ireland and am committed to using photography as a means of amplifying social narratives, with particular focus on women’s experiences and their relationship with land.
